Full story[]
Tina is in her room, changing out of her pajamas, but something she notices on her rear makes her pause to inspect it. Linda calls her for breakfast, and Tina calls back to save some Chocolate Chippy Chomps for her.
Once in her day clothes, she joins her family at breakfast, explaining her late entrance is because of her butt pimples while adding that she hopes it's normal to have some as a teenager. Pouring the box of Chippy Chomps into her bowl, Tina is shocked that there's none left. She interrogates her siblings and finds out that Louise's already on her second serving, annoyed by the discovery. Louise excuses her actions, suggesting that she couldn't resist it. Bob brings up the Bounty of the Bay parade, and Gene points out that Wagstaff will have a float in the parade this year with a chosen ambassador. Louise continues to aggravate Tina with the loudness of her cereal-chewing.
At school, Tina walks by Mr. Frond's office, and he starts ranting to her about his problems. The counselor describes how Principal Spoors wants him to find a new student to organize the Ask an Eighth Grader advice column while promoting the vote for the parade ambassador, among other tasks. Mr. Frond makes Tina the new Ask an Eighth Grader without thought, adding that her role is anonymous.
Teddy comes to Bob's Burgers to order, explaining how he has to help build a parade float for the Order of the Pioneers, "one of the oldest fraternal societies in the country." He suggests his desire to join. Teddy explains that the fraternity had already commissioned a grouper fish made out of ocean litter, and his job is to set it on the float. The handyman adds that he told the fraternity he plans on also making the fish's eyes and mouth move, in addition to making bubbles come out of the mouth, to impress the group.
While students are having lunch, Mr. Frond reminds students to vote for the parade ambassador, emphasizing how simple the process is. Tammy voices her desire to Jocelyn to be the ambassador. Additionally, the counselor points out the revival of the Ask an Eighth Grader column. Tina shares her enthusiasm about the column with Gene, pretending to be interested in who Ask an Eighth Grader is. Louise points out her lack of interest in it, though Tina shuts down her sister's attempts to talk to her, still being upset about Louise eating all of the Chippy Chomps. Tina then reveals to Gene that she is Ask an Eighth Grader.
For multiple days, Tina constantly checks her email to see if anyone has an issue to share with her. Linda gets her daughter to eat dinner, and Tina shares her disappointment about how unfulfilling being Ask an Eighth Grader is. She also urges her family not to tell anyone that she's Ask an Eighth Grader.
As everyone gets ready to sleep, Linda catches Louise with the family computer and Tina's diary. Louise reveals her plan to atone for not saving Tina any cereal by submitting a question to Ask an Eighth Grader based on the "weird puberty drama" problems from Tina's diary. Linda helps her daughter improve her question to make it seem more realistic.
Meeting her family at breakfast again, Tina sadly checks to see if she has any questions in her email. She is delighted by the one anonymous question she received that Linda and Louise submitted under the alias Miss Am I Normal. Tina believes that the things the question addresses are things she knows how to handle.
Teddy sets up a bubble machine in the restaurant for the float, making bubbles float everywhere. Bob makes Teddy shut the machine down after a customer points out how it's getting into his food.
At school, Tammy and Jocelyn walk around to encourage others to vote for Tammy as the parade ambassador. The Belcher kids are with Jimmy Jr. and Zeke, and Zeke talks about the Ask an Eighth Grader column in the paper, praising Miss Am I Normal for her honesty and Ask an Eighth Grader for the advice they gave to Miss Am I Normal. Multiple students appear reading the paper for the column and sharing the same sentiment. While having lunch with her siblings, Tina tells them how she hopes Miss Am I Normal writes again. Louise gets her mom to help her write multiple questions to Tina using her diary again. Tina revels in the popularity of the column as a result of her answers to her mom and sister's fake identity.
Teddy comes to the restaurant. Teddy reveals that he's been away because of his work on the Order of the Pioneers' float, frustrated at how he hasn't gotten the fish to achieve anything he promised it would. The kids return home, and Tina mentions that Miss Am I Normal is becoming important at the school and that people want to learn her real identity, worrying Linda and Louise. As Teddy asks about it, Tina reveals that she is Ask an Eighth Grader and allows Teddy to tell Mort, as well.
At night, Linda and Louise write a final question to Ask an Eighth Grader as Miss Am I Normal, signing off the letter by requesting not to attempt to uncover her identity. When Zeke reads Miss Am I Normal's response during lunch at school with the Belcher kids and Jimmy Jr., Zeke and Jimmy Jr. become even more determined to find out who she is. Mr. Frond announces that the parade ambassador is Miss Am I Normal, with Zeke adding that he voted for her to find out who the student is. The announcement forces Louise to tell her siblings that Miss Am I Normal is someone that she and their mom made. However, Tammy announces that she is Miss Am I Normal. As multiple students come up to Tammy to have her sign their newspaper, Louise tells her siblings how she and their mom took material from Tina's diary and that Tammy's lying. Louise tries to apologize, but Tina storms away.
While Bob is working, Teddy calls him and tells him how he got invited to the fraternity's lodge. Teddy repeats his desire to make the grouper fish work how he wants it to and to become a member.
Tina confronts Tammy alone and tells her how she knows she's not Miss Am I Normal. She reveals that she is Ask an Eighth Grader and that Miss Am I Normal was Linda and Louise's doing. The news shocks Tammy. However, Tammy threatens to reveal that Tina's mom and sister created Miss Am I Normal if Tina decides to inform everyone that she isn't actually Miss Am I Normal.
On the day of the parade, Teddy is readying the Order of the Pioneer's float. The fish functions how Teddy planned only momentarily before shutting down, causing Teddy to panic.
The Belchers are watching the parade together. Linda tries to have a conversation with Tina, though Tina only talks to her mom and sister to point out that she's still upset with them. As the parade host, Scott Baggs announces the arrival of Wagstaff's float and Tammy as its ambassador. The weatherman describes Tammy's identity as Miss Am I Normal before she gets ready to speak on the podium. To separate herself from the embarrassing issues that Linda and Louise created, Tammy announces that all the problems she talked about as Miss Am I Normal weren't real. It upsets many students, though Tammy is only interested in doing poses.
As Tammy returns to the float, Tina runs up to the podium to announce that she is Ask an Eighth Grader and that the Miss Am I Normal letters were fake without revealing that Linda and Louise wrote them. Disclosing this backfires as it causes students to become more upset. Tina tries to apologize until Linda and Louise claim responsibility, revealing that they are Miss Am I Normal. However, their confession comes off as suggesting they share the problems that Miss Am I Normal talks about, and multiple people start standing up to claim that they are also Miss Am I Normal. Tammy also attempts to, though Tina doesn't allow her, and Scott Baggs continues the rest of the parade, announcing the next float being the Order of the Pioneers'. The Belchers notice that Teddy is operating the fish inside.
Once the parade ends, as the Belchers walk away from the event, Linda takes pride in Tina for managing to help students despite having to reveal the sham that she and Louise created. Louise apologizes for this and suggests that Tina should apply the advice she gave to Miss Am I Normal to herself. Teddy calls Bob, disclosing that he's now a probationary member of the fraternity but must go through a risky initiation rite. He urges Bob to help him.
