He is one of the many characters voiced by David Herman.
- He is a character voiced by a cast member of The Great North, Central Park, King of the Hill, and Bless the Harts,^[1] which many other cast members are part of.
- Herman is credited as "Board Member #2" for voicing him in "Like Gene for Chocolate."
  - One of the other Spratt's Sweets board members reveal his name.
- Along with him, Herman also voices "Astronaut" (the astronaut in Gene's fantasy sequence) and "Automated Greeting Guy" in the episode.
He shares his name with three other characters: Al Genarro, Al the Alpaca, and Al introduced in "What About Blob?"
- Before "Sauce Side Story," the episode that reveals Linda's parents and sister's last name, Linda's father was also only known as "Al."
  - He, Al Genarro, and the other Al introduced in "What About Blob?" were all remarkably similar because they were all white elderly characters known only as "Al" with balding, gray hair and glasses. Four of these similarities remain true.
His favorite Spratt's candy is Sprickle Sprackles. ("Like Gene for Chocolate")
