Trivia[]

  • The correct title of this episode is Burger War, this is evidenced on the public catalog of the US Copyright Office,[1] Fox's official press release,[2] and a shirt produced with the episode names on its back for the 100th episode.[3] Many sources including iTunes call the episode Burger Wars.
  • This was the last episode written by show creator Loren Bouchard until "Topsy" in Season 3. It was also the only episode written solely by Bouchard until the Season 13 finale, Amelia.
  • First episode where no new voice actors are credited and the credited cast had all voiced characters in at least one episode before this one.
  • The Pesto Family's real last name is Poplopovich, as revealed in this episode.
  • Andy and Ollie Pesto, first seen in Art Crawl, are revealed to be Pesto's twin sons.
  • This is one of the only episodes where the Store Next Door ("ROCKY REFUGE RACCOON SANCTUARY") is referenced in the episode itself.
  • In the flashback showing karaoke night at Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria a sign says "Gnocchi-oke, Italian karaoke".
  • First episode to use the current style of text on the intro credits and end credits.
  • When Gene cuts off his rat-tail, instead of the closed captioning including the brief "Bye-Bye" musical sting, a line of dialog for the hair is shown saying, "Wait, can't we talk about this?!".
  • This episode was the third produced but aired as the tenth. This episode was meant to serve as the official introduction to the Pesto Family, Calvin Fischoeder, Trev, and Coach Blevins but they all first appear in episodes aired before this one. Mort's mother also makes her first appearance but doesn't speak until her second appearance in "God Rest Ye Merry Gentle-Mannequins." Bob also mentions the rent being month-to-month in "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" which Fischoeder only implements at the end of this episode.
    • However, at one point in the episode, Louise mentions how Tina had kissed Jimmy, Jr. before, which happened in "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?". It's likely that line was added in post production in order to keep in line with the broadcast continuity.
  • Hugo was supposed to appear in this episode according to a promotional image, although it was likely from a scene cut for airtime. The possible deleted scene didn't appear on the DVD release of the first season.
  • The book Louise reads about voodoo in this episode is called "WhoDoVooDoo."
  • This episode was the least watched in Season 1, with only 4.00 million households tuning in to watch it. Despite this, all episodes in seasons 5, 6, and 7 failed to reach this figure.
  • The episode received positive reviews from critics.
  • When Bob and Linda go to Jimmy Pesto's to confront him, a table tent flier shows "Pasta La Vista, Baby!" which refers to an iconic line in the 1984 film The Terminator.
  • Another side of the table tent shows Piano Bar Tuesday Oldies But Goodies! with Frank and Zelda. This may refer to the famous early 20th century American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda Fitzgerald. In real life, however, the Fitzgeralds were both long-since deceased before the time the show started.
  • The mother of John Roberts, Linda's voice actor, has actually said she wants her cremated ashes thrown at Tom Selleck's face,[4] which may inspired the line in the episode.

Goofs[]

  • The flower vase Linda sets out on the counter disappears by the time Mr. Fishchoeder arrives at the restaurant.
  • Linda places a coffee down on the counter, presumably for Mr. Fischoeder to drink at the same time Bob serves him the burger, but it disappears following the close-up shot after she places it down.
  • Jimmy Pesto's hair that Louise cuts off keeps disappearing and reappearing on his head.
  • One of Pesto's burgers with an Italian flag decoration appears in a close-up shot of Bob and Linda but doesn't appear elsewhere. Interestingly the burger appears in the aforementioned promo image that got deleted. Likely missed by the animation team after the scene got cut.
  • In some shots the buttons on Jimmy, Jr.'s vest are on the wrong side.
  • In Jimmy's Pesto's. A random person was holding a Besto-burger when it was taken off the menu
