• Gary's appearance is modelled on that of singer Art Garfunkel.
• The music from the End Credits Sequence of God Rest Ye Merry Gentle-Mannequins plays on on David Dazzle's radio show when the family is driving to the tree lot.
• The script cover shows Bob looking in the mirror with a shocked look.
• Gene mentions that he has in the past suggested the family ride in a motorcycle with four sidecars instead of a car. This may be a reference to Metalocalypse, where the main characters of the band Dethklok often ride just such a motorcycle.
• The truck chase plot parodies the premise of the 1971 film Duel.
• This is the last episode to premiere in 2013.

Goofs

• The amount of food in the Belcher's refrigerator is significantly less when Teddy looks in it than when Louise placed the milk in there at the beginning.
• In the car when Linda asks the kids if they are excited to decorate the tree, Louise's jacket is colored green instead the usual blue.
• The refrigerator door opens to the left in this episode, usually it opens to the right, meaning shouldn't have been able to see Teddy from that angle. Additionally, the microwave oven on top of the refrigerator is missing in this episode.
• When Bob is driving the car in reverse on the bridge, his hand that was placed on the back of the seat is floating in front of Linda for a moment instead of being on the seat.
• When the family is hiding from the candy cane truck in the woods and Linda says "he's right there" twice, she appears to be wearing her shirt. Although it was likely the animators accidentally colored her coat red instead of brown.
• When the family is stuck in the woods and the candy cane truck blocks them in, the headlights on their car appear to be off. In the very next scene however, the headlights can be seen illuminating the truck in front of them.
• Continuity: When stuck in the woods, Louise asks Linda where babies come from. However, Louise has witnessed Sidecar's birth ("Ear-sy Rider"), watched and then taped over footage of Gene's birth ("Broadcast Wagstaff School News"), and even re-enacted her own ("Mother Daughter Laser Razor").
