Release[]

On September 20, 2016, an extended play was released, featuring the version of the song in "Topsy."

Following the official announcement of The Bob's Burgers Music Album on February 23, 2017,[1] the Behind Bob's Burgers YouTube channel uploaded a new track each Thursday throughout March and April. The channel uploaded a lyrics video for "Electric Love" on March 16.[2]

On May 12, 2017, The Bob's Burgers Music Album was released digitally, at midnight local time, featuring the song.

Description[]

Throughout "Topsy," Gene develops the song he plans to perform for Louise's science fair project, making the song about a love story between Thomas Edison and Topsy the Elephant. He replaces himself and Tina as the two by getting Mr. Fischoeder and Gayle to sing for them. Louise shuts down the song after hearing it, but when Mr. Dinkler bans Louise from the science fair, he allows "Electric Love" to continue. Mr. Fischoeder and Gayle sing behind the curtains of Louise's project while Gene and Tina lip-sync, with Gene dressing up as Edison and Tina as Topsy.

The song plays again in the episode as it transitions from the end of it into the End Credits Sequence. In the sequence, Thomas Edison and Topsy sing the song, continuing to do so after they get electrocuted and start floating up. Tina, Gene, and Louise fly around like cherubs as they sing the background vocals, and at the end, Nikola Testa appears on a cloud, glaring at Edison.

The album and lyrics video version features dialogue before and in-between the song.[2]

(SPOKEN: Linda)
(SPOKEN: Louise, is there something you want to say to your sister?)
(SPOKEN: Bob)
(SPOKEN: Tina, I'm sorry I nearly killed you. I got carried away with the Dinkler thing, which worked out pretty well, but still, I shouldn't have almost killed you.)
(SPOKEN: Louise)
(SPOKEN: It's okay—this is how Topsy would've wanted it, but with more trampling people.)
(SPOKEN: Tina)
(SPOKEN: And Gene, I'm sorry to you, too. Your song was really good.)

Release[]

On June 4, 2013, Vulture released the music video of the Bob's Buskers version of "Electric Love," with Stephen Merritt and Kelly Mellman covering the song, exclusive to their website.[3][Note 1] The magazine had previously teased its release in a previous Bob's Burgers-related article on May 9, 2013.[4]

On May 12, 2017, The Bob's Burgers Music Album was released, at midnight local time, featuring the song.

Description[]

The cover is a shorter, stripped-down version of the original song, being two minutes shorter than the original. What remains is the first verse of the original song and its chorus. The chorus also repeats "electric love" seven times instead of six, not stating "fits like a glove" at the end of it.

The music video features Stephen Merritt dressed up as Topsy and Kenny Mellman dressed up as Thomas Edison. Merritt plays an accordion, and Mellman plays a keyboard and a miniature piano on top of it. They sing in front of the Wonder Wheel at Wonder Wharf at night, attracting people to listen, including the Belcher kids. During the chorus, attractions at Wonder Wharf light up, and the Wonder Wheel starts spinning. Scenes from "Topsy" appear in a montage during the chorus, in addition to original scenes, like Mr. Dinkler kissing his Thomas Edison poster.[5]
