• First appearance of the Belcher Family including Tina Belcher who replaces Daniel Belcher from the "Pilot". Hugo, Ron, Mort, and Speedo Guy also make their first appearances.
  • Locations appearing for the first time include Bob's Burgers, It's Your Funeral Home & Crematorium, Wagstaff School (in the cutaway to Louise's show and tell presentation), a Falafel on a Waffle location, and Wonder Wharf. Some other business's exteriors are also seen along Ocean Avenue including the Store Next Door, Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria, and Yours Truly Stationery. Wonder Wharf Baseball Park is also visible through the windshield of Hugo and Ron's van when Ron looks back into the lab.
  • This episode is based on the original pilot episode. This episode includes some dialog from the original but the animation is new and Tina replaces Daniel. The scene from when Hugo puts up the sign until Bob looks in the glass is new to this episode. Also, Ron appears to reveal the results of the test when the adventurous eaters arrive and a final scene set at Wonder Wharf is added.
  • The chyron when Hugo is being interviewed on the news reads "Cannibals or Can-o-bull?" Hugo's last name is also seen, Habercore, which so far hasn't been mentioned again since.
  • This is one out of four episodes in Season 1 to be aired in production order. The other three are "Crawl Space", "Hamburger Dinner Theater", and "Weekend at Mort's."
  • A total of 9.38 million households watched this episode, making it the most watched episode of the series.
  • When Gene knocks on the door of It's Your Funeral Home & Crematorium a sign reads "NONE of your loved ones used as FOOD!!!."
  • Bob is celebrating his 40th birthday in the flashback to when he forgets his own birthday.
  • The episode received positive reviews from critics.
  • The plot of this episode is retold in the "Hugo's Hot Dogs" segment of "Sliding Bobs" where Bob and Hugo's roles are reversed. Additionally, the final scene of "Sliding Bobs" is modeled after the scene where Ron points out about doing the test in their van's laboratory in this episode.
  • Bob and Linda's anniversary, September 3 (9/3), is the same as creator Loren Bouchard's.
  • Signs being held up by protesters include; "Cook cheeseburgers, not me-burgers", "Keep 'me' out of meat", Don't taste me, bro", Don't put our sons between your buns", "Who's the beef?", "Hamburgers, not himburgers, and "Eat Me? Eat me!".
  • Ms. LaBonz appears in the flashback to Louise's show and tell presentation and in the mob outside the restaurant, she makes her first speaking appearance later in "Lobsterfest."
  • This is the only episode where Mort's hydraulic lift has been used yet the metal flaps on the sidewalk have remained there throughout the show's run.
  • Mr. Caffrey's corpse is shown in this episode. More about his life is revealed later in "The Belchies" and "Sea Me Now."
  • This episode's script cover is a variation on the warning sign Hugo puts up in the window. It shows two patty buns. The top says "HUMAN", while the bottom says "FLESH" along with the dead man between the buns.
  • The Belchers would've made $1250 from accommodating 25 people if everyone ordered a burger each at $50. They would also have made more from the sales of beverages and sides.
  • When Hugo's cell phone rings the closed captioning reads "["never gonna give you up" playing on cell phone]", referring to the Rick Astley hit, "Never Gonna Give You Up". This may have been an element that was removed after the captions were taken.[1]

  • When Bob responds to Louise asking if the restaurant is going to close, Bob's eyes stay shut for longer in his reflection on the window.
  • The piece of candy on the Child Molester Burger plate changes position between shots, one shot also includes another piece.
  • The plate with the Child Molester Burger that Louise is holding disappears after Linda comes into the kitchen from the basement.
  • Linda's apron pocket is missing in the flashback to when Bob forgets her birthday.
  • In this episode, there is a restroom where the doorway leading out to the alley usually is. This doesn't feature in any other episode. Although, in "Glued, Where's My Bob?", there is an employee toilet in the left of the hallway that never featured before in the series.
  • The glass window's opacity changes frequently throughout the episode, this error was common throughout the earlier seasons of the show.
  • Bob and Linda wear their aprons while they are riding the Ferris wheel, this is likely because the family rarely left the restaurant in early episodes and the animators likely forgot to remove them.
  • Linda removes her apron when she comes out to speak to the protesters but it then reappears and disappears in between shots.
  • The poster appears from nowhere, the shot changes and Ron is suddenly holding it.
  • Bob or Linda don't look any different in the flashback to when Bob misses Linda's due date, unlike in later episodes where younger versions of them appear when they flashback to the kids' early years.
