- Gene's fear of snakes was previously seen in "It Snakes a Village." Here it returns but is more elaborated on since he actually encounters a snake in this episode, resulting in him running away, curling up in a box terrified, and stating that he'd 'never ride in a car, look at a car, leave the house, or get out of bed again'.
- The title is a play on the phrase "just the tip", something that is offered to virgins. Gene had previously used the phrase in the episode "The Bleakening".
- Nat's love of lizards was first hinted by a throw-away line in V for Valentine-detta.
- At the end of the episodes when the snakes are "telling" Bob their names, the first two are named Ricky and Lucy while the third one is named the Fonz. Ricky and Lucy are both characters from the 1950s show I Love Lucy, while the Fonz is from the show Happy Days that ran for a decade from 1974 to 1984. Coincidentally, the Fonz's actor, Henry Winkler, voiced the Mall Santa in "Nice-Capades."
