'Cause if you show me a sweet potato pie, I am on top of it.
— Marshmallow

Marshmallow is a transgender sex worker.[2] She makes her first appearance in "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" She is a friend of the Belchers.

She was originally voiced by David Herman, but she is currently voiced by Jari Jones.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Marshmallow appears to be a dark-skinned transgender woman, with a curvy figure. She wears red lipstick and a pair of hoop earrings. She has a dome-shaped afro, with two barrettes in it. Marshmallow’s signature outfit is a white slingshot bikini, and a pair of white boots. In some episodes, she wears a green midriff with a pair of Daisy Duke shorts.

On May 17, 2023, creator Loren Bouchard confirmed Marshmallow's status as a trans woman and that trans model and actress Jari Jones had been brought on to voice her.[3]

Personality[]

Not much is known about Marshmallow’s personality. She is usually shown as friendly, free-spirited, and mellow. She seems to enjoy partying, as shown in "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" and "The Bleakening." Bob describes her as someone who "comes and goes as she pleases, answers to no one and is truly free ("The Hormone-iums").

She is very supportive and generous with her time, as she occasionally helps Bob whenever he’s in a problem at the restaurant, such as getting the farts out the stools ("Lice Things Are Lice") and cracking the knot out of Bob’s back ("I Get Psy-chic Out of You").

Marshmallow is a sex worker[2] that Bob Belcher befriends while driving for Mr. Fischoeder's nighttime cab service in "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" As Bob states in "The Hormone-iums," Marshmallow "comes and goes as she pleases," making multiple minor appearances in several episodes that only suggest she makes herself available when there's something enjoyable happening ("Sheesh! Cab, Bob?," "The Kids Run the Restaurant," "Lice Things Are Lice," etc.).

Since her first appearance, she has become a fan favorite.

Her parents[]

Based on "Hope N' Mic Night," Marshallow's parents likely live far away from her, and they don't have a lot of time to spend with each other. When she learns about the Belcher's open mic night, she decides she must perform at the event for her mom and dad. At the event, Marshmallow covers "Seabird" by the Alessi Brothers, singing for the first time for them, which touches her parents, and after, they have an emotional hug.

Friends[]

The Belchers[]

Marshmallow and Bob meet each other when he works as a nighttime cab driver for Mr. Fischoeder to pay for Tina's 13th birthday party. She later becomes acquainted with his family after he accidentally invites her and other people to his daughter's party ("Sheesh! Cab, Bob?"). While her meeting his family was accidental, she becomes good friends with them, like with Bob.

While it's hard for the Belchers to locate her ("The Hormone-iums"), Marshmallow consistently turns up when they are hosting a fun time, the first example being Tina's birthday party in "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" The underground casino that the Belcher kids host in "The Kids Run the Restaurant" entices her to come, and she goes to Linda's Christmas party at Bob's Burgers in "The Bleakening, Part 1." Marshmallow also attends the restaurant's open mic night in "Hope N' Mic Night." Aside from Belcher-thrown things, she often encounters the Belchers at other events, like at Bog to Beach in "Paraders of the Lost Float" or a secret Christmas rave at an abandoned warehouse in "The Bleakening, Part 2."

Bob's favor for Marshmallow in "Hope N' Mic Night" exemplifies the relationship that Marshmallow developed with the Belchers. He allows his kids to host an open mic night at his restaurant so she can perform a song for her visiting parents.

Marbles[]

Marshmallow and Marbles both know Bob because of his brief nighttime cab driver for Mr. Fischoeder, and Marbles, Glitter, and Cha-Cha also invite Marshmallow to Tina's 13th birthday party ("Sheesh! Cab, Bob?").

They also attend the same underground Christmas rave in "The Bleakening, Part 2."

Glitter[]

Marshmallow and Glitter both know Bob because of his brief nighttime cab driver for Mr. Fischoeder, and Glitter, Marbles, and Cha-Cha also invite Marshmallow to Tina's 13th birthday party ("Sheesh! Cab, Bob?").

Art[]

Art is Marshmallow's friend she brings to Linda's Christmas party in "The Bleakening, Part 1." The highlights of their relationships seem to be sharing drugs and attending The Wiggle Room before it got demolished ("The Bleakening, Part 2"). Marshmallow expresses disappointment in Art after he admits he stole items to decorate an underground Christmas rave at an abandoned warehouse they attend ("The Bleakening, Part 2").

Acquaintances[]

Teddy[]

Marshmallow is friendly with Teddy, and her encounters with him are because of their association with the Belchers. They both go to Linda's Christmas party in "The Bleakening, Part 1," and they're at Bog to Beach in "Paraders of the Lost Float" when Teddy drives the float the Belchers made for the event, and Marshmallow is parading with other attendees.

1506 Hope N' Mic Night Linda Marshmallow Marty

Marty[]

While how friendly Marshmallow is with Marty is unclear, Marty seemingly owes his life to Marshmallow, which Marshmallow discreetly mentions after discovering Marty's plans to shut down the Belchers' open mic night because of his responsibility as a fire marshal to suggest this. Marshmallow's vague reference to it makes him allow the Belchers to continue their event out of fear of what Marshmallow would do if he didn't ("Hope N' Mic Night").
