“ | What? It’s not a school night. Who wants stickers? | ” |
— Ms. Baker
|
Ms. Baker is the third-grade teacher of Gretchen and Jestain. She makes her first and only appearance in "The Pickleorette."
She is voiced by Merrin Dungey.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Ms. Baker is an older woman with wrinkled brown skin and gray hair styled short and curly. She is particularly short, with Bob being about a head taller than her.
In "The Pickleorette," the teacher dresses up formally, likely because of how she's attending Jestain's bachelorette party. She wears a pale yellow top with blue pants that leave her ankles exposed. Her shoes are snow-colored flats with white bottoms, and she wears a dark purple tight-fitting open cardigan over her top. She accessorizes with a lilac beaded necklace with earrings resembling the beads. Additionally, Ms. Baker carries a brown crossbody purse with a rectangular golden lock and golden bases on the handles, and she appears to wear nude lipstick.
Personality[]
As "The Pickleorette" is the only appearance of Ms. Baker, it's unknown what she's like when working. However, her personality appears to retain a tender aspect stemming from her job as a teacher. She brings stickers with her in case any other members of Jestain's bachelorette party want any since Jestain liked stickers when she taught her. It suggests a prudish nature about her, showing no awareness that Jestain—being an adult now—may no longer like stickers, though her demonstrations against this shock people throughout the episode, such as Jestain. She catches her former student off guard by recommending that the bachelorette group get another serving of drinks at The Oyster Palace, which she excuses by pointing out it's not a school night.

When she's intoxicated, she appears to be cruder, like how she chants strippers out the sunroof of Nat's limousine with Jestain and Gayle. She becomes particularly insensitive to others when drunk as she boos Gretchen when she reveals she couldn't get the strippers to come to the "private Pickles place," which is actually Bob's Burgers.
Story[]
In "The Pickleorette," Gretchen invites Ms. Baker to Jestain's bachelorette party as Gretchen forgot to email Jestain's friends their invitations. Ms. Baker celebrates Jestain's marriage with Gretchen, Linda, and Gayle, eating at The Oyster Palace with them and going to Bob's Burgers, where Gretchen improvised for strippers from Pickles to perform for them.
Relationships[]
Gretchen[]
- “Third-grade teachers can be friends, Linda.”
- — Gretchen about Ms. Baker, "The Pickleorette"
From what "The Pickleorette" reveals, Gretchen is a former student of Ms. Baker. Gretchen doesn't reveal how she managed to get in contact with Ms. Baker in the episode, though Gretchen likely hasn't seen Ms. Baker since she left third grade, like Jestain. Their relationship seems positive and significant enough, with Ms. Baker agreeing to attend Jestain's bachelorette party despite being a last-minute member. Ms. Baker also remembers how Gretchen liked to fight when she was in third grade.

Jestain[]
Like Gretchen, Jestain is another former student of Ms. Baker. The third-grade teacher remembers how Jestain liked stickers when she taught her, leading her to bring stickers for her and the other bachelorette party guests. Jestain also points out how Ms. Baker is "making her way up" her circle of friends near the end of the party, showing how their relationship developed past a teacher-and-student one ("The Pickleorette").
The Belchers[]
Ms. Baker is acquainted with Linda like how she is with Gayle by meeting them at Jestain's bachelorette party. She initially believes that Bob is a limousine driver named Dob, as Gretchen gets him to create an identity to hide that he is Linda's husband and not a professional limousine driver ("The Pickleorette").
Gayle Genarro[]
Ms. Baker interacts with Gayle more in "The Pickleorette" than Linda as she isn't busy ensuring nothing goes wrong with Jestain's bachelorette party like her sister. They encourage each other's eccentricities: the teacher gives Gayle her shrimp tails at The Oyster Palace when she asks for them, and Gayle is the first to accept a sticker that Ms. Baker offers.
