  • The title is a reference to the 1989 song "Runnin' Down a Dream."
  • Although Larry Murphy is credited for voicing Teddy, he doesn’t have any speaking lines.
  • Gene writing a song about tater tots with legs and eating scrambled eggs at breakfast parallels Beatles member Paul McCartney writing the song "Yesterday." The melody to the song came to McCartney in a dream and tried to remember it by calling it "Scrambled Eggs, I Love Your Legs." Louise also mentions the Beatles when Gene reveals that he plans to enter the online song contest.
  • The hairstyle in Gene's dream is the same one he had in his fantasy in The Bob's Burgers Movie.
    • Gene also wears a similar marching band outfit to the one he wore in a flashback in "Oh Row You Didn't."
