Sam is an eight-grader at Wagstaff School. He makes his first appearance in "Butt Sweat and Fears."

From what happens in "Butt Sweat and Fears," Sam appears to be a rather anxious and shy boy who gets freaked out by social events like dances. His social anxiety causes his imagination to run wild, imagining all sorts of things that can go wrong, and he will actively try to avoid social situations. Despite this, Sam wants to become more social, as proven by how the student attended Chelsea's party despite his fears. He seems helpful as he actively tries to devise ways to help Tina with the stuck dryer.
Story[]
Sam attends Chelsea's dance party. He gets nervous about dancing with someone, so he tries to hide in the laundry room, where he runs into Tina. Tina tried to dry clean her skirt, but the dryer door got stuck. Sam tries to help Tina open the dryer but to no avail. He then anxiously explains why he's hiding in the laundry room, revealing his panic over the thought of a girl asking him to dance and his dislike of going to another party again. That's when Chealsea's cat enters the room and defecates in the litterbox. The smell disgusts Sam and Tina. Sam states there's something wrong with Chelsea's cat.
Tina encourages Sam to head out to where the dancing is happening. Still, Sam says he's terrified of embarrassing himself, even imagining scenarios where he hurts someone through his terrible dancing. Sam then tries to scoop up the cat poo but doesn't know how to, so Tina tries to help him but accidentally falls in the litter box, ruining her shirt. Sam offers to get Chelsea's parents, but Tina doesn't want to risk ruining the party for everyone else. Sam then gets the idea to unplug and re-start the dryer, which works. He then puts a box over his head and hums while Tina changes her clothes.
Tina decides to dance with Sam and leads him out of the laundry room. Sam's fears are somewhat validated when he steps on Tina's feet, but she reassures him not to think about it and have fun. After the dance, Sam expresses pride over having danced at a dance party. He also suggests that Tina take the empty chair next to Jimmy Jr.
