- Tina's story, "Lady Chatter-teeth's Lover," is a play on Lady Chatterley's Lover, a book published in the late 1920s depicting a relationship between a middle class man and upper class woman and famous for its graphic sexual imagery for the time.
- In Tina's story, the band at the ball is "Boys Fore the Present Tyme," a reference to the Boyz 4 Now boy band in the show's universe.
- In Tina's story, Tina says, "wow, everyone from town is here!" and Gene adds, "even Lord Ken, the albino." This is a reference to Gene's 28-year-old albino friend, Ken.
- In Tina's story when Bob says that his "horse broke down", it may be a reference to a moment in Back to the Future Part III when Marty McFly is at the farm explaining his himself "Well, my car—horse broke down, a bear ate my boots, and I guess I forgot my hat".
