When Gene is changing stations on Mort's radio, "Lifting up the Skirt of the Night" and one of the songs played during Tina's birthday party in Sheesh! Cab, Bob? can be heard briefly.
The title of this episode refers to the 1989 dark comedy film Weekend at Bernie's in which the main characters attempt to convince people that their deceased boss is still alive.
Bob's model kit of the bus from Speed is a reference to the bus from the 1994 action film Speed.
Louise takes her school backpack with her over to Mort's
Mort drinks a Pesto Colada while at Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria.
The mortician's dating website that Mort uses is called cre-mates.net. His eventual date, Samantha's profile picture can be seen in the shot of the website on Mort's computer screen.
In a deleted audio segment, Mort hosts a weekly podcast called "Hey, It's Your Loss" with the Belcher children guesting.

When the Belchers sing "Weekend at Mort's" during the episode, everyone mouths Louise's "Uh! Uh! Uh!" but only Louise sings it. In some foreign dubs, they all sing the line.

When the kids are told not to go near Mort's computer, the screen is blank while Louise makes her way over to it.
